Dismantle the production cell in such a way that it can be reassembled

A & P handled the dismantling of an entire thixomolding production cell. At the heart of the cell was a JSW 850 injection molding machine weighing 50 metric tons, supplemented by two handling robots and a press.
Thixomolding is a forming process for magnesium alloys. The four units operate as an integrated system and are closely coupled, both mechanically and electrically. They had to be separated for transport but needed to remain fully traceable for reassembly at the destination.
Thus, the actual goal was not to dismantle the structure, but to document it. The cell was to be reconstructed exactly as it was at the desired location anywhere in the world—by a team that had never seen the structure in its original condition.

Relocation of Production

Scope of Work for the Project

On-site assessment

Survey of the equipment and equipment components to be relocated from a mechanical and electrical perspective, including access routes and accessibility.

Activities & Schedule

Development of a schedule for disassembly, packaging, and loading, tailored to the client’s requirements.

Labeling & Terminal Diagrams

Labeling of all disconnected connections and preparation of terminal diagrams as the basis for electrical reconstruction.

Packing Lists & Photo Documentation

Comprehensive inventory of all components and their installation status for reassembly at the destination.

Disassembly

Mechanical and electrical disassembly of the production cell into transportable assemblies.

Packaging & Loading

Packaging of all assemblies in a manner suitable for transport and loading ex works in accordance with EXW terms.

Dismantling of a Thixomolding Production Cell

Result: loaded and fully documented

The production cell was mechanically and electrically disassembled, broken down into transportable assemblies, packed, and shipped from the factory. In addition to the assemblies, a complete set of documentation—including labels, terminal diagrams, packing lists, and photographic documentation—was provided, designed to facilitate a 1-to-1 reassembly at the destination site.

What Makes This Plant Dismantling Typical

When relocating equipment over long distances, the documentation for recommissioning is what matters, not the disassembly. Anyone who disassembles a system without documenting what they are taking apart is not relocating equipment, but rather a pile of components. At the destination, the system must then be reconstructed rather than assembled, and that takes weeks.
That is why, at A & P, labeling, terminal diagrams, and photographic documentation are included in the scope of the disassembly service and are not listed as separate, additional items. Because the mechanical and electrical teams work together, the documentation for both areas is based on the same inventory assessment.
The scope of services ranges from plant dismantling and reassembly to machine relocation, electrical engineering, and automation. For projects requiring a large workforce, A & P also provides additional assembly personnel.
